We are pleased to announce a 12-month PhD Student Scholarship in a collaboration between École Centrale Casablanca (ECC) and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). This position focuses on advanced computational modeling (DFT, AIMD and related techniques) to guide the experimental development of next-generation CO₂ capture materials.
Key Responsibilities
· Investigate the structural, electronic, and adsorption properties of functionalized mesoporous materials.
· Employ DFT, AIMD, and possibly other multiscale approaches to understand CO₂ adsorption mechanisms and optimize material design.
· Work closely with experimentalists by comparing simulation results with techniques like XPS, IR, and Raman spectroscopy.
· Prepare regular progress updates, technical documentation, and manuscripts for publication, team meetings and conferences.
We offer a 12-month (full-time commitment) internship with an interesting stipend and possibility of on-campus housing.
Apply by sending your CV, cover letter and names and contact information of two references before April 10th, 2025 to: Anass.SIBARI@centrale-casablanca.ma (use this email’s subject: CO2-PhD-“Last Name”).
Candidate Profile
· Must be currently enrolled in a PhD program in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related fields.
· Experience with DFT software (VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO, etc.).
· Familiarity with HPC environments is a plus.
· Prior experience in CO₂ capture or a related area is highly desirable.
· Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving.
· Autonomy and ability to work independently.
· Effective communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.
